New Crop Organic Peru Norte

Today 8 bags of coffee from Peru came in. (Thats 16 half bags for you math types / Birmingham news readers). The coffee is from a coop in the northeastern corner of Peru, Cepicafe. The site has some really nice pictures and information, but doesn’t work in Safari.

They are everything Primavera looks for in […]

formaldehyde[free]

I think I can say across the board that all the wood sheet goods in your house or place of work are glued together with formaldehyde. The EPA says it well,

In homes, the most significant sources of formaldehyde are likely to be pressed wood products made using adhesives that contain urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins. Pressed […]

Portico Magazine

The October 2006 issue of Portico Magazine includes a piece on Birmingham coffee roasters. We were one of the four roasters included in the article. Portico is a good magazine to read as well as to ad surf. Also, they use the matte/satin paper that looks richer (color not money) than the […]

Tea

I updated the tea page today. two leaves and a bud (the tea line we carry) has re-done their packaging and added a white tea, 2 herbal teas, and a chai.

The new Organic Chamomile Flower is super good…

Steam Wands

Our espresso machine has a superb boiler. I mean if we wanted to steam a bucket load of milk it would be great. I am not a big fan of bucket loads of milk though.

You shouldn’t like it either. Your milk should be steamed for you, and poured lovingly into freshly prepared espresso, just […]

We have been testing out some espresso blends and some single origin espresso the last few weeks. The first shot off the machine seemed to be the best, so I have been thinking I needed to raise the boiler temp. I don’t have a scace device or thermofilter to tell me the temp of the […]

business cards

We here are Primavera are proud of everything we do, so when it came time to print our first round of business cards we started researching. (we wanted to be proud of those too)

Naturally we went to Geoff for the design. He designed our bag labels and logo. As he says, “I created their […]

Building Inspectors & Chemex

We had a building inspection last week. The Fire Marshal came out and said everything was fine. The building inspector said the sink in the bathroom was 2 inches too tall, and the handrails in the bathroom 4 inches too short.

The landlord had those installed so we are waiting for his plumber to come [...]

Exhaust

The exhaust on the roaster was supposed to be bare metal. It came and the top half was bare galvanized, but the bottom half was cream/tan ugly primer.

I was really annoyed because it was sorta, kinda expensive. I wanted metal!

I did the usually Google/Amazon/Home Depot/Lowes scouting around.

Porter Cable makes a spray gun that I [...]
