Primavera is proud to feature two new Cup of Excellence coffees. Cup of Excellence is an international competition and auction that takes place in 10 Latin American countries. Progressive, quality conscious farms present coffees that are rated on a 100 point scale by blind judges. (They must score above 85 points to even qualify for entry.) Each coffee is cupped at least 5 times to determine its rank, after which roasters throughout the world bid on each lot.
Our two featured coffees are Brazil Fazenda Cachoeira da Grama and Costa Rica Finca Carrizal.
Fazenda Cachoeira da Grama is located 3 miles from the Minas Gerais state line and has been in the family since 1890. Lindolpho de Carvalho Dias is a visionary with not only quality, but also the social and environmental sustainability of his farm. Sweet honey and complex aromatics complement its creamy body and floral finish.
Finca Carrizal is located between the Barva and Poas vocanoes in the central valley region of Costa Rica. Owner Rodolfo Boillat Silva fervently follows a third generation tradition of passionately producing specialty coffee. Its sweetness drips with toffee undertones wrapped in creamy butter and dark chocolate.
We will feature Cup of Excellence coffees year round, replacing previous selections with new ones as we cycle through our supply of beans. Currently, both Finca Carrizal and Fazenda Cachoeira da Grama are $9.00 per 1/2lb. The prices of new featured CoEs will be subject to change, based on auction bids. Cup of Excellence is here to stay!
