Primavera was asked to serve coffee at a fundraising event for the Vestavia Hills Chamber last week. It was a fun event for us. I didn’t take any pictures, but we were rocking 3 Bodum french presses and 3 Bodum Ibis hot water kettles pouring into Fetco 1 gallon caraffes.
We only have 1 commercial grade grinder, and the event overlapped with regular store hours, so we took one of the burr grinders we sell in the store. I wasn’t sure if the Baratza Virtuoso would be able to grind fast enough and also not heat up, but it was our only choice.
The Virtuoso held up great and never heated up. The coffee tasted great…. nice and crisp. Today at the store I was cupping some of our production roasts with coffee ground by our commercial grinder, and the coffees tasted muddled. I ran them through the Virtuoso and they tasted great.
I guess its good news for you folks out there with the Virtuoso, but not for our grinder. He has served us well over the last year, but we ordered a new store grinder on Friday… a nice shiny black Ditting!
