We have been testing out some espresso blends and some single origin espresso the last few weeks. The first shot off the machine seemed to be the best, so I have been thinking I needed to raise the boiler temp. I don’t have a scace device or thermofilter to tell me the temp of the brew water, so we have been going off taste and the factory set boiler pressure.

The pressure was right at 1 bar and sometimes dipped below that. I have been on the phone with parts guy for the importer for some new steam wands and tips, so i picked his brain about the boiler pressure / temperature. It is pretty easy to adjust, but you have to take all the panels off the machine to get to the pressure stat box . He suggested 1.3 to 1.4 bar.

1.35 bar seems to be a nice. The temp is a little high for the first shot, but then the following shots are at the right temp.
