Christmas Coffee

image

We will be making a short trip home on the 22nd of December. We are hoping to sell 150 pounds of coffee to help our friends, Michael and Adele, in Guatemala. All of the Crossroads Coffee will be roasted fresh and bagged by yours truly the day before we leave. (It’s a good hint of the great coffee to be roasted in Birmingham shortly enough!) If you are interested, email us at brettmburton@hotmail.com with the coffee you would like and how many pounds (no amount is too much!) We can deliver your coffee whole bean or ground. IMPORTANT: we need to know your brewing method for ground coffee. (Auto drip, French press, moka pot, espresso machine…)

If it is a Birmingham area order, we can hand deliver it. You can pay with cash or check.

If the order is going out of the area we will mail it USPS, so be sure to include your mailing address. Payment can be mailed after you receive your coffee: checks made out to Brett Burton please. If you are sending a check, please send it to this address:

A Blurb on Coffee Freshness
Coffee is generally considered fresh for up to two weeks after roasting if not properly stored.

Coffee is a very dry product, which causes it to absorb whatever moisture it is exposed to. Moisture makes coffee stale. After roasting, coffee emits carbon dioxide and other gasses that give coffee its flavor. Degassing makes coffee stale. In order to keep your coffee fresh, store it in a cool dry place, in an airtight jar.

Avoid putting coffee in a refrigerator. Refrigerators keep foods moist.

There are times when freezing may be appropriate. Freezing is only for long-term storage. Once frozen, your coffee can be stored for several months. In this scenario, coffee should be put in an airtight jar or freezer bag. Once out of the freezer, it must stay out of the freezer.
