Mike and Adele bought an acre of land from Wolf about 2 years ago. They spent a year, using their day off to put up a chain link fence around the land. They spent a few days out of town after they had finished the project. When they came back, 3/4 of the fence had been taken and the poles ripped up. As a result, they decided to put up a stone/concrete wall around the property before they start building their house. They are a year into the stone wall and about 3/4 done. It is a beast of a wall, we have named in the Great wall of Guatemala.
All of that was said to introduce their builder, Hilario. He is a Mayan in his 30’s that worked for Wolf before Michael started him on the great wall of Guatemala. His wife just gave birth to their sixth child, so they invited us up to their house in celebration. It is their first girl…whom they decided to name Adela Mishel, after Adele and Michael. Pretty sweet huh? We had a large plethora of tortillas and a typical soup that is basically like Chicken noodle soup with a bunch of crazy Guatemalan vegetables. They keep trying to convince Adele that she hasn’t had enough children yet, since she only has two. It’s hilarious…I mean hilario…. that one was dedicated to Barry. I skink he will get that one.
The 2nd to last picture is of Pana from Hillario’s roof top. It is in a river valley that feeds lake Atitlan. The last picture is from Mike’s property.

awwww she’s so precious!!!! Hope you guys are doing well..i”m thinking about you everyday!
the multiple comment: 1. nice shirt, havilah :0) 2. adorable baby…you should smuggle her back into the states as a souvenir 3. so, are the nice ladies pressuring you & bretter? you’re way behind michael & adele…hehe
Hava, You look so natural with Adela Mishel!! Says a lot about Michael and Adele when the baby gets BOTH names. Hmmmm, how would Bretter look with her?? Ya know she looks like Brett cause she’s asleep! If you do bring her back (would love to see your customs forms!), give all of us time to get the baby rooms ready!!!!
Hey, sweet hava joy, you are a sight for sore eyes! the baby is kinda cute too!
That’s an interesting measurement that Michael & Hilario are taking! Was that picture staged? What’s the story on the concrete blocks with holes in them? Are those the support blocks between sections? It’s a wild world when I can sit in the Samford library, plug in the ole iBook and learn about my children in another country! Way cool for this old guy. Does anyone know what a “trackback” or a “pingback” are? Whatever they are, we’re not seeing many around these parts. Do you remember the problems we used to have with a dog and a mechanic named, “Andy?” Well, this last weekend, we had a fiancee and a pet named, “Kat.” It was wild! [actually, the feline’s name is Ruston, after the quaint little town where Geoff and Kat plan to settle down and buy property for Brett & Hava’s coffee shop]
i dunno about barry, but i geet it…
Yeah i geet it too…
The picture of the measurement was real, but I can’t remember what. There is natural water shed that Mike did not want to redirect, so he put the pipes in the wall. The colums are there for support. The great wall of Guatemala will have its own post in a bit.
Trackbacks and pingbacks are when that specific post is linked to another blog on the great http://WWW. I guess we don’t have any blogger friends out there.
I skink Ben posted!
I’m impressed! Mike with the smart end of the tape! I see him every day at his Crossroads coffee shop. I’ve never seen him working as hard as in your photos. Want to see some more Guatemala photos?
