Krazy Fair

OK so this is a picture overload….The top two pictures are of the “town square” they set up 5 ferris wheels in front of the Catholic church pictured. This ferris wheel is the biggest one, and the little one to the left of it was “hand powered.” There are two bell towers at the top of the church that they ring to call people to mass and they are LOUD. The guys stands at the top and pounds on one of the bells with a hammer.

These next three pictures are how they power the two big ferris wheels.

This picture is a 3 speed tractor that pulls the second biggest wheel. The rear wheel pulls the cable that circles the ferris wheel and makes it spin. (take a look below to get a better understanding.)

This is an inline 6 cyclinder car engine. There is a car rim mounted to the transfer case. The rim to the right is kind of a stationary pulley, it is mounted to the frame of the ferris wheel.

This is the electricity lines. There should only be about 4 or so big cables coming from the pole. All that jumble of wire is where the vendors (food, clothes, toys, anything you can imagine) climb up the pole and “tap” into the big cables. They use lamp cord.

Hmmm, the OSHA guys would have writer’s cramp from issuing all of the violations!! Of course I view everything from the position of a protective parent!!! Simply amazing how people “solve” problems in front of them. Lamp cord?? Once again amazing. Can we say “DisneyWorld Guatemala”!!
